Privacy Policy
Last updated August 2026
Lone Star Humane Association ("we," "us," the "coalition") is a statewide Texas coalition advancing animal-protection legislation. This policy explains what information we collect through this website, why we collect it, and what we do — and don't do — with it.
What we collect
We only collect information you type into a form and submit. That means:
- Coalition signup. Your email address, and optionally your first name, ZIP code, state representative district, and which briefing topics you want to hear about.
- Contact form. Your name, email address, the desk you selected, and your message.
Alongside each submission we record the time it was received, the page it came from, and the submitting IP address and browser user-agent. Those last two are kept only to identify and block automated spam.
We do not run advertising trackers, and we do not build behavioral profiles of visitors.
Why we collect it
- To send you the legislative briefing you asked for.
- To answer the message you sent us.
- To understand where coalition support is concentrated by district, so we can route testimony and letter campaigns where they matter.
- To keep the forms working and free of automated abuse.
Where it goes
Submissions are stored in a private spreadsheet accessible only to coalition staff, and a notification is emailed to the coalition. We use a small number of service providers to make that work — website hosting, email delivery, and spreadsheet storage. They process the data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
We do not sell, rent, share, or trade member data. We do not pass it to political campaigns, candidates, partner organizations, or data brokers. Member lists do not leave the coalition's systems.
How long we keep it
We keep your information for as long as you're part of the coalition. If you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your record, we remove it from our active lists. Anti-spam logs are kept for a short period and then discarded.
Your choices
Every briefing email includes a one-click unsubscribe. You can also email us at any time to see what we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted. Texas residents and residents of other states with applicable privacy laws may have additional rights; we honor those requests regardless of where you live.
To make a request, write to sbobosky@mail.smu.edu.
Children
This site is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has submitted information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Security
Submissions travel over an encrypted connection and are stored in access-controlled systems. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we limit who can reach member data and review that access.
Changes to this policy
We'll update this page when our practices change and revise the "last updated" date above. Material changes affecting how we use your information will be announced in the briefing.
